Celia Welch, Winemaker

Some folks think winemaking involves a lot of laboratory science, others think I do nothing but taste wines from barrels all day. Winemaking is both of these things but much more as well.

Colleen Colleen Fleming, Assistant Manager

Involved in a bit of everything, I help with hospitality, tours and tastings, showing new Napa guests around our beautiful winery, helping in the cellar during racking, bottling and harvest, cooking lunches and dinners with my mom in the winery kitchen for great KF customers. Helping with in house sales, building relationships with local restaurants, marketing, admin, etc. I also have the glamorous role of taking out the trash and cleaning dishes.

I'm proud to oversee our farm here in the Napa Valley. The canyon, the way the wind always moves, having these beautiful canyon walls to protect us. Bordering the Land Trust-- we’re suited well to farm conscientiously without having farmers that use chemicals coming on to the property. It’s a little oasis here and it’s very special. Instead of producing one crop, we actually grow, raise and feed many living things.

My role at the winery is drinking unfinished glasses of wine, selling to National accounts, and sweeping seeds at Harvest.

I am the Assistant Winemaker.  I also like to help out with tours and tastings when I can.  It’s been great to experience the sales and marketing side of the wine industry, in addition to the winemaking side.  Most winemakers have no idea what’s happening on the other side – it’s been really intriguing to me so far.

Staff PhotoJeff Roberts, Vineyard Manager

I was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC where my family owned a small Christmas tree farm.  I started my own landscaping company right after high school and went to college where I studied Environmental Horticulture and Plant Science. Falling in love with food and wine, I moved to the Napa Valley in 1994, went back to school for degree in Viticulture.  Launched my own vineyard management company, FARM Napa Valley, in January 2010.

I was born and raised in San Francisco. I am a 7th generation Californian. My ancestors are the original Spanish Conquistadors of California, arriving in the 1760s. Virtually every place with a Spanish name in those regions was "discovered" and named by my family.

This vineyard is in a great climate, in a gorgeous location. It does not have any immediate farming neighbors to contaminate the organic production, the water comes from an uncontaminated aquifer and creeks, and it is one of the "cleaner" vineyards in the Napa Valley. The soil and climate produce a wonderfully complex wine.
